Articifial intelligence is enabling the future

Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be used to benefit many areas of business. Simply put AI is the method of gathering knowledge and insights from data and then using the knowledge and insights to make better informed decisions.

Swecos´ consultants will be able to deliver even better solutions to our clients by working hand in hand with advanced calculations and simulations from AI. For example, planning of public transport will be improved greatly by being able to simulate with the help of AI the impacts from demographic changes, urban expansion, and zoning changes.

Data and AI is playing a key role in accelerating transformation giving us insights and showing us patterns that lead us to making the right decisions and design the right solutions.

A key to this is what we call Operationalizing Artificial Intelligence. We are talking about taking AI models and putting them into the real world. By incorporating these AI models in our business and making them available and useful to our people and systems. 

However, we do not deploy or put into production AI models like we do with traditional IT systems or applications. Because we do not have one single platform or system in an organization that needs AI, but instead we have multiple applications, platforms and processes that will require inferences from our AI models. Therefore, a flexible enterprise-wide AI platform is required that can serve the models to the place where the inferences are to be consumed.

Operationalizing requires that the AI model can be managed and governed by the business, it is not enough that a data science team develops and then simply releases a model. The Model must be capable of reacting to usage, to become more accurate and the business must be able to analyze the model results without always resorting to the data science team.

The challenge of getting the benefits of AI for a business is the task of implementing the concrete steps we need to take to move AI from a laboratory environment to putting it in the hands of regular business users in the system contexts they are used to and using their business usage to improve the models automatically.

Fortunately, the fundamental requirements for AI Operationalizing, meaning the real-world usage and operation of a model can be standardized. By standardizing and making AI available to our consultants in an easy way we hope to transform our services.
